Baby’s day out

Sanj and I went to Spencer’s last saturday – and had such an amazing time! I had quite forgotten how much fun escalators are, when you are young. The escalators were Sanjana’s favourite memory of Spencers. Strange, though, that a three year old could manage perfectly well on an escalator, but wouldnt get onto some really nice merry-go-round type thingies. Sanj refuses to climb onto those cars or trains or whatever – She’s much too scared of them most of the time. Reminds me of a study that found children do not actually like clowns (I am really not surprised – I don’t find them much fun, myself). Its the adults who imagine children do.

We also got our portrait “drawn” at the automated studio in landmark – that was great fun! Plus there was a visit to the antique shop – the one that i have been eyeing for more than 5 years now, and havent entered even once – really cool stuff! Typical bric-a-brac- very charming brass binoculars in leather cases, scale models of old ships, clocks, gramaphone players, vases – very very interesting.

I am still trying to figure out what makes me enjoy these outings with Sanj so much- its not just the fact that I love her, and want her to learn. I think a bit of her enthusiasm to learn is infectious. I keep taking her to places I think she will find interesting, so the fact that she has a great time is also an incentive. She is pleasant, stimulating company.

I come back home – sanj falls asleep on the way- and once she wakes up, ask her – “What did you do today?”

“I got onto the crocolide, and the lady said it wouldnt work” (Merry-go-round)

“Anything else?”

“Hmmm…. no, nothing”.

Well, there goes…
